STRÖMSBRUK

Kustleden is distributed over two properties.

The main building consists of a reception, café and a few guest rooms on the ground floor.

Camera museum and canoe rental can be found in the basement.
The main building was completed as the mill's new head office in 1912 and was then extended the following decades.
During the past 20 years, however, it has operated as a hostel with guest services. The feeling is old-fashioned and pleasant with a focus on sustainability and function rather than modernities.

Our apartments are called Söder (south) because that area was initially located south of the then mill.
The apartments were built in 1971 and have served as a hostel for about 15 years.
The accommodation here consists of fully equipped two-room apartments with four beds each and has much of the 70's feel left. Here, too, we focus on function and durability rather than modern design and a negative impact on our climate.

Common to both properties is fast, free WiFi but TV is only available in the apartments.
The atmosphere in the main building is tranquil and there is a comfortable lounge and lots to read, instead of TV.

We who started Kustleden in 2002 and still run the hostel are Jaye and Johan. We have a professional career as traveling photographers and writers with, among other things, 20 active years based on Canada's west coast.

Strömsbruk, which turned 350 years in 2022, is located on the coast in northern Hälsingland, 20 km north of Hudiksvall and just under 70 km south of Sundsvall.

The old mill community was founded as early as 1672 and is strategically located between lakes and the sea with rushing rapids traversing the village.

The distance to the sea is just over 1000 meters and the other bodies of water are a stone's throw from the hostel. Strömsbruk lacks a grocery store but does have a pizzeria and summer flea markets. Within bicycling distance is nearby Stocka with a convenience store, restaurant, gas station, and other services.

Despite the fact that Strömsbruk is only a short detour from the E4, the environment is relaxing and invites outdoor activities. Bicycle trails, hiking trails, and paddle waters are on the doorstep and the village is centrally located with exciting excursion destinations within easy reach.

Families with children and those interested in the outdoors love Stömsbruk with its huge park, nice swimming, walking paths and rich wildlife. All Kustleden overnight guests can borrow bicycles for free, so it is easy to leave the car in the car park.

Popular excursion destinations by car, on the other hand, include Mellanfjärden with Trolska Skogen, Gränsfors with its axe factory, Hassela with wilderness and blue mountains, Hornslandet and Hudiksvall by the sea with Mulle Meck, museums and restaurants. Another popular excursion destination is Järvsö with its unique Järvzoo.
